The OVA will be hosting a Coaching Clinic featuring Canada’s Men’s National Team Head Coach Glenn Hoag in conjunction with the World League match versus Portugal on June 8th at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga. Also presenting will be six time CIS Champion Head Coach Laurie Eisler from the University of Alberta’s Women’s Team and Men’s National B Team Head Coach Larry McKay from the University of Winnipeg.

Glenn Hoag, our Men’s National Team Head Coach will be presenting on “Training the Setter”. In this presentation you will get to see the drills Glenn uses to develop critical techniques and tactics with setters.
Laurie Eisler, six time CIS National Champion and three time CIS Coach of the Year with the University of Alberta Pandas will present on “Serve and Serve Receive”. During this presentation Laurie will show coaches the activities she uses to out serve and pass her opponents.
Larry McKay, our Men’s National “B” Team Head Coach and two time CIS Coach of the Year with the University of Winnipeg will present on “Cue Reading and Decision Making”. In this presentation, Larry will show coaches in how to make sure “cue reading and decision making” are a part of every drill and how to improve a players ability to read the play.

Volleyball Canada is pleased to confirm a Centre of Excellence (VCCE) will be opening this September in Hamilton. The program will be offered from September-December at the new Athletic and Recreation Centre on the main campus of Mohawk College.
The VCCE program is designed specifically to prepare high performance athletes serious about the sport of volleyball looking to move on to the next level and pursue their volleyball career. While focusing on individual athlete skill development, the Centre of Excellence is the ideal complement to the high school and club system for athletes.
Volleyball Canada is excited to welcome Matthew Schnarr and Andrew Nicholson, head coaches with Mohawk College Men’s and Women’s Varsity volleyball programs.

The 21U Men’s and 20U Women’s Canada Games Team Selection Camp was held at the York University this past weekend May 17th to 19th.
After three rigorous days of drills, scrimmages, testing and evaluations, the Ontario Volleyball Association is proud to announce the list of successful athletes who will represent Ontario at Canada Games. The first Canada Games was held in February 1967 in Quebec City. The event has since grown to become the biggest and most prestigious multi-sport competition offered to young Canadians. The volleyball event will be held August 1-9, 2013 in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

We have a lot of exciting changes in store this year for the 2013 OVA Beach Tour!
The OVA is pleased to announce the introduction of the first annual OVA Grand Slam event scheduled for June 28-30, 2013, at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto. The purpose of this event is to provide exposure and increase popularity and awareness of our great sport. It is our hope that this event will become a big part of the Summer Beach Volleyball season in Ontario. The prize money breakdown for tournaments has changed as a result of this – more information on prize money breakdown can be found in section 5.4.3 of our Player’s Handbook. Please note that teams must have at least one 2013 Beach Tour tournament result to qualify for the Grand Slam based on Tour points. Additional information on this event can be found by clicking here.

Canada Games is a multi-sport event hosting 4200 athletes from across Canada who compete for honours in 20 disciplines. The event is scheduled between August 10-18 in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Eligibility: Men born in 1991 or younger and women born in 1992 or younger
Identification: The winner of the Canada Games Trials will go to Canada Games.
